Nous voila bien...
"Sadly for the second time I am forced to postpone my tour to promote THE FUTURE BITES - the rescheduled dates were due to begin in September. While recent developments made me at least optimistic that the UK shows might have been able to go ahead (though no guarantee), the same is not true of much of the rest of Europe. With it now clear that it would not have been possible to proceed with many of the shows I have reluctantly made the decision to cancel the whole tour. As a solo artist so many of my expenses are in advance, rehearsal and musician costs, developing the production, so to then only be able to perform a handful of shows at best would simply not have been financially feasible. Once again I must apologise for the disappointment and any inconvenience caused.

I plan to use the time creatively and to complete and release 2 new albums I have in progress in 2022 and 2023 respectively. With that in mind it makes more sense for me to now look forward to touring these albums instead, and to incorporate the TFB ideas and songs.

In the meantime there is more TFB related music on the way over the coming months in the form of some fantastic remixes and a release for the song ANYONE BUT ME, which was originally the closing track on the album but which I replaced with COUNT OF UNEASE. Right now I’m also working hard to finish my book which will be published later this year by Little, Brown and Company - news on all this soon.

The world is totally messed up at the moment, and the cancellation of my tour is not especially significant in the grand scheme of things, all the same I was very excited to be finally getting out there and interacting with real musicians in front of a real audience again, so this is a real blow.

J'ai pensé pareil...on va voir...

merci Mr a , j'ai toujours beaucoup aimé ce morceau , de Steven Wilson / Porcupine Tree , et même si je préfère l'original , cette version vaut le coup d'oreille et cette vidéo vaut le coup d'oeil pour le musicien amateur que je suis.

A l'écoute de cette version de Last chance... une nostalgie monstrueuse de Porcupine Tree m'envahit... j'adore l'original, un de leurs sommets selon moi. Et la, la version bontempi, ça vire au massacre... non merci. Niveau innovation électronique -aussi pour l'album The future bites, en passant- on est quand même loin de la claque Kid A de radiohead... qui remonte pourtant déjà à pas mal d'années... et quand je lis l'interview de Richard Barbieri, on voit que lui aussi ne comprend pas pourquoi il ne fait plus rien du tout avec le groupe... donc si je peux me permettre un souhait, cher Steven, arrête les pseudo expérimentations forcées et refais tout simplement de la bonne musique, et peut-être qq chose avec Porcupine? je ne perds pas espoir

L'interview de Richard Barbieri est passionnante. Il en ressort que globalement il comprend tout à fait les choix de Steven Wilson, et son approche de la musique depuis qu'il est en solo. Il y a en effet un petit regret d'avoir terminé Porcupine Tree avec The Incident qui, de son propre aveu, n'est pas leur meilleur album.
Je suis totalement d'accord avec lui : Fear Of A Blank Planet reste leur sommet.
Maintenant le temps a passé et il faut admettre, comme Richard Barbieri lui-même, que Steven Wilson a d'autres envies. Quant à savoir si il fait de la bonne musique ou pas, meilleure qu'avant ou pas, ce n'est qu'une question de point de vue. Pas plus.
Pour moi, il a atteint avec Hand Cannot Erase une plénitude, que seul Fear Of A Blank Planet peut toucher chez Porcupine Tree. Et depuis je suis ses aventures avec grand intérêt, tant sur To The Bone que sur The Future Bites. A chaque fois, SW se remet en question, revoit ses acquis, j'adore cette approche et franchement les vieux Porcupine Tree ne me manquent pas tant que ça.
Encore une fois, question de point de vue.

Oui c'est clair question de point de vue. Je ne dis pas non plus que je trouve ces albums solos nuls, j'aime bcp aussi, Hand cannot erase et To the bones. Mais je pense que l'alchimie de ce groupe était particulière et livrait des choses superbes qui me manquent en qq sorte... mais c'est son choix de faire des choses en solo et évidemment je respecte...
