Fish a publié ces dernières semaines les textes finis de 5 chansons de son nouvel album The Thirteenth Star :

Manchmal

The turtle and the scorpion, the riverbank the deal,
To cross the open water they mutually agreed,
Out there in the distance, the other side in sight,
Banking on forever, holding on for life,
I can see the other side; I can see the other side,
I want to see the other side.

Somewhere in the middle the truth is hard to find,
I'm running round in circles; I find I'm running blind,
Praying for the distance, praying for more time,
Running round in circles, running out of time,

Manchmal, I often think of you,
Manchmal, I want to see it through,
Manchmal, I should feel something more inside,
Manchmal, I want to reach the other side.
I'm swimming, I'm swimming!

The point of grave decision, no turning back this time,
No sense of reluctance, no doubt in my mind,
Except that nagging feeling, the thought that it might fail,
The bullet's in the chamber, the sting is in the tail,

Manchmal, I only think of you,
Manchmal, could we see it through?
Manchmal, there is something left inside?
Manchmal, my nature cannot hide!

I can see where we're going; I can see how you feel,
I can sense you're going to leave me, I know you'll break the deal,
I'll drown in my sorrows and I'll drink at your shrine, manchmal,

Is that the way that you see it, tell me how it should be,
It's time to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea,
Manchmal, Manchmal.

Manchmal, there's something stirring deep inside,
Manchmal, a chance to come alive,
Manchmal, manchmal,
It's time to choose between the open water and your dreams,
Time you faced reality, time you faced your fears,
Manchmal, it's different this time.

Miles de Besos

Rain comes; delivered in the city, wash the feet of the angels at play,
Waters graced with garlands of roses, in the Conchya Torro the fountains cry.

I play the Prince; you play Ophelia, tragedies dance in the light of your eyes,
Sauvignon Blanc toasting the sunset and a life in a tomb under a ceiling of stars.
We lay back and gazed at the stars,

Shadows crawl under the crater walls, Santiago, the Chilean dawn,
High on dreams you feel you can touch the sky,
I did believe that you really could fly.

All I could offer was miles de besos,
A heart full of hope and the wings of a prayer,
Storms gather high in the mountains,
Somehow I know that you’ll never arrive,
You’ll never fly

All I could offer was miles de besos,
A heart full of hope and the wings of a prayer,
Storms gather high in the mountains,
Somehow I know that you’ll never arrive,

Miles de besos

Did you think that it meant nothing to me, that when you disappeared I could walk away?

Did you know that you broke my heart and left a scar that never fades away.

Miles de besos.

Dark Star

A naked man, across the lawn, ghosts of morning walk a carpet of tears,
Croquet balls, scattered moons, drowning sorrows on a sea of green.

The fairy falls with broken wings; I hold it close to me and then let it fly,
Another dream, another you, shattered splintered shards explode in the blue.

An open door, an empty drive; no kitchen drama, no final goodbye.
You're making out, it's all my fault; you left to go in search of sympathy.
You thrive on grief, on tragedy;
You paint the pictures you want them to see.

I'm just a dark star, inhabiting a silent void,
Spinning in the darkness, orbiting a universe,
I want to be a meteor, want to travel at the speed of light,
Another dead star, silhouette against a pale moon,
I want to crash into another world.

That's how it was, 'or how you saw it,'
You never talked, 'you never listened,'
I beg to differ, 'I choose to disagree,'

You wanted out, 'I couldn't take it,'
You got no balls, 'don't you know it,'
That's my opinion 'you're making that clear'

It's at an end, 'this thing is over,'
You led me on, 'tin pot poet,'
I write the words down that you don't want to see.

I'm just a dark star, inhabiting a silent void,
Spinning in the darkness, orbiting a universe,
I want to be a meteor, want to travel at the speed of light,
Another dead star, silhouette against a pale moon,
I'm in another world.

It ain't easy, it was never going to be, it ain't no free ride, you don't get my sympathy,
You should have realised you had to compromise, it ain't easy, was never going to be easy.

You let my world explode into stars.

Arc of the Curve

Do you remember the magic of the moment, when forever was only words away,
When we believed everything was certain,
All we had to do was fulfill promises we'd made,
Cherish hope between us and our dreams were always safe,
We'd always be together and in that I had my faith
I put a ring upon your finger, and that smile upon your face
And I told you, that I couldn't love you more,
And we longed for the arc of the curve.
We launched on the arc of the curve,
We touched the stars.

The fairy tale, the breathless rush of romance,
If love is blind then I will never see again,
When we awoke the spell remained unbroken,
Our souls entwined, in afterglow, you held my beating heart,
Blew away my shadows, you kissed the tears from my eyes,
And you told me that you couldn't love me more,
We sailed on the arc of the curve,
We flew on the arc of the curve,
And touched the stars.

The days are long the nights are longer,
In every minute there's a thought of you,
I can't forget the magic of the moments,
I stare into the mirror to pretend I'm not alone,
It takes everything I have not to call you on the phone,
Just to tell you that I couldn't love you more,
That I'm lost on the arc of the curve,
Careering on the arc of the curve,
Crashing on the arc of the curve.
This arc of the curve.

I could never contemplate that you would ever walk away.

Thirteenth Star

With a heart full of sky, your eyes full of moon, I left you dying, I heard you cry,
Just a fool to myself, there could be nobody else, I was lying to even think I could survive without our love, I can't deny it.

Then you showed me the way, and I will follow,
To the end of my days, and you know I will follow
The thirteenth star.

There's a point in your life, you got to reach and when you do, you know it, and now I'm here,
If I held out my heart and offered my hand would you take it, if I showed you the stars would you follow,
Let me show you the way, to the end of our days, will you follow me to the thirteenth star!

There's a point in your life, you got to reach and when you do, you know it, and now I'm here,
If I held out my heart and offered my hand would you take it, if I showed you the stars would you follow, let me show you the way to the thirteenth star.

I follow the thirteenth star.

Before you play two notes, learn to play one note - and don’t play one note unless you’ve got a reason to play it.

6eme texte:

Openwater

I'm running out of options, running out of road, got no sense of direction, sliding out of control.
Going in search of nowhere, just some place to hide, from these omnipresent problems,
I just can't hide from life.

You set sail under cover of the darkness, by the early light I knew that you had gone,
In search of new horizons, where the sky melts in the sea.
I followed in the hope that I could catch you and convince you our directions were the same,
That we could steer the same journey across the oceans,
Fly our flags together in a heaven full of stars,
But you blew me out the water the first chance that you had.

If you want me, you know exactly where I am, adrift in open water, gazing at the stars.

I went down with all hands in the morning; I was clinging to the wreckage of the dream,
Praying for a rescue that I knew would never come,
I watched your sails disappear into the distance; I saw my life in the currents floating by,
I was left to the mercy of the four winds and the tides,
To carry me to shorelines where the sea and sands collide,

If you want me, you know exactly where I am, adrift in open water, gazing at the stars.

You said more in the things you didn't say, I told you that I loved you and I meant it,
We were heading for the rocks; we'd reached the point of no return,
One day I will manage to forget you, one day I will get you out my mind,
Delete the photographs, the images, the numbers on the phone,
The messages you sent me that I held on for so long,

If you want me, you know exactly where I am, sailing open waters, guided by the stars.

7ème texte:

Zoë 25

He struggles to the breakfast table, still hung-over, hardly able to come to terms with Monday's new demands,
To activate the microwave, to reheat Friday's take away, the cafetiere to muster up some coffee from the grains,
He lights the next last cigarette and promises himself, as he retches in the sink, to change his ways,
He dreams inside the Sun,
Of Zoë, from London, 25.

She's foetal on the foldaway, staring at the laundry in the corner, that she should have done the night before,
Listening to her flat mate singing Stones songs in the shower, she hopes she leaves hot water when the bathroom's finally free,
Where she cries into the mirror and smudges her mascara,
She's Zoë, from London, 25.

When you're looking for somebody, you might not even see them, when they're standing there in front of you, right before your eyes,
If you're looking for somebody you're going to need some help, you know you'll never find her when you're still looking for yourself.

He races to the subway station, out of breath and out of options; he couldn't make the phone call to explain himself away,
He's locked in a reality that's taking time to sink in because he's lost inside a daydream, his mind is occupied,
He turns his back on everybody, on Zoë from London 25.

She clutches at the broken heel from tripping down the escalator,
Chasing her white rabbits through the tunnels far below,
Where she moves around invisible, to all concerned anonymous,
A dream girl in a nightmare on a journey to the stars,

When you're looking for somebody, you might not even see them, when they're standing there in front of you, right before your eyes,
If you're looking for somebody you 're going to need some help, you know you'll never find her when you're still looking for yourself.

At the Micklegate, where you lost your way and time stood still.
At the Micklegate, with my heart in chains, the dream was killed
At the Micklegate, where you lost your way and time stood still.

8ème et 9ème texte:

Where in the World

This time last year I was in love, this time last year there was a dream
That was in motion that was so real.

The sparks that danced within our eyes, in our hearts there was a fire,
We burned so brightly, we were so alive,

We were going home, going home, we were going home.

We had our stage, the scene was set, the passion play, our roles were written, we had our destiny, our lives were meant to be,
We were going home, we were going home.

The promises, the tender touch, we made our love and kissed with open eyes,
You took me by surprise; you hurt me deep inside, how could you then decide,
That you're going home. You're going home.

All this time I wonder why you walked away, just what I'd done,
Before I knew it you had disappeared without a word, you stole my dream,
You stole my dream
I'm going home, alone.

If the angels flew from Heaven, if God just walked away,
If we found out no one's listening to our ever louder prayers,
If the sea just keeps on rising will it drown the funeral pyres,
Would it bring us back together, do you think we'd see the light?
Where in the world, where in the world, do we go from here?

Where do I go from here?
Where do I go from here?

If I could tear away the darkness, pull the stars out of the skies,
If I could just convince you that everything was right,
If you could only see our future and forgive me for the past,
Do you think that we could make it, do you think our love would last.

Where in the world, where in the world, do we go from here?
Where in the world, where in the world do we go from here?
Where in the world do I go from here?

Square Go

I'm a soldier in the forever wars, no photos of a family in my wallet,
No i.d., no credit cards, I don't exist, I never have.
I never have.

Raised in jungles I quickly learned to read the trees,
Schooled in deserts I walk on shifting sands.
Neutral shadows, unseen beneath a bed of leaves,
I await the call, open frequency to the square go.

I want a square go! A square go!
I want a square go! Square go!

My blood is ice, the temperatures rising,
My soul a glacier, I move alone,
A pilgrim's progress in a shadow world,
I learned to sit in silence with my sounds.

I want a square go! A square go!
I want a square go! Square go!

(spoken section - jammed)

My blood is ice, the temperatures rising,
My soul a glacier, I move alone, I move alone,
alone,
alone.

10eme texte

Circle Line

Just another day on the circle line, losing myself as I follow signs,
Beneath the surface underground I keep my feelings deep inside.

Just another face in another crowd, taking my place without a sound,
I follow strangers blindly through toward the so familiar doors.

Just another day, just another day, another day.

I always depart but I never arrive, never a moment passes by when I feel I'm not treading water in a sea of drifting souls.

No way out, there's no escape, running blind and running scared
and the cctv cameras track my movements in the maze,

9 to 5's the only time I try to kid myself that I'm still alive,
that I'm living out the dream to earn my freedom from this rat race where all I do's survive, I live the lie, I serve my time.

On the circle line.

Round and round and round and round and round and round I go!

9 to 5's the only time I try to kid myself that I'm still alive,
that I'm living out the dream to earn my freedom from this rat race where all I do's survive, I live the lie, I serve my time.

Just another day, just another day, just another day,
Just another day, just another day, just another day on the circle line.

Navigator, need a navigator, a navigator, need a navigator.

I'm going down, I'm going down on the circle line,

The piper calls you forward with an ancient tune,
And you follow down empty corridors,
To take you on a journey to another world,
To take you on a journey to the stars.
